The First Baptist Church Family Ministry Internship Program

First Baptist Church provides college and graduate students interested in ministry with an opportunity to work with families, children, and youth.  This program, which includes ministry coaching with a professional staff and loving congregation, will partner a student with the various volunteer leadership teams of our youth and children’s ministries.

The internship is a 10-month program, and includes a scholarship and stipend for qualified students. There are several objectives to the Family Ministry Internship Program.  The program…
  •  Provides an opportunity to work with families by facilitating educational and missional programing, as well as coordinating volunteers that co-lead youth and children ministries at FBC.
  • Exposes interns to the promises, challenges, and blessings of local congregational ministry.
  • Provides a safe learning environment that encourages personal and professional growth under the supervision of staff and other trained ministers.
  • Assesses an intern’s vocational call to ministry.
  • Builds a foundation for on-going ministry in local congregational leadership.
  • Provides interns with opportunities to gain a proficient, working knowledge of core competencies related to ministry: Vocational Clarity, Spiritual Formation and Leadership, Church Administration, Pastoral and Self-Care, Worship Leadership, Missions and Discipleship, Interpersonal Communication, and Conflict Resolution.
