A Call to Prayer…

We are a church committed to the ministry of prayer.  We hope that you will join us in praying for our community, nation, and Christ’s Church around the world.  We have many opportunities to participate in our Prayer Ministry:

  • Wednesday Night Prayer – 5:45 PM in the Family Life Center.  This is a time of intercession that precedes the Wednesday Bible study.  Our prayer list includes people who are home-bound, ailing, grieving, or celebrating a special occasion.
  • “A Call to Prayer” Meeting – Every third Thursday of the month, 3:00 PM in the Prayer Chapel.  Join us for a time of facilitated prayer, which includes intercession, silence, and extemporaneous prayer.
  • Men’s Prayer and Breakfast – Every Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the Executive Library (Staff Offices).  Men gather for a brief devotional, time of prayer, followed by breakfast off campus.
  • Sunday Morning Prayer Teams – Come into the Prayer Chapel on Sunday to pray for our church, community, ministries and missions.  The Prayer Chapel is open from 8:15 AM to 11:45 AM.
  • Mid-Week Prayer Opportunities – Visit our Prayer Chapel any time during regular business hours for a time of self-guided prayer.
  • Missions Vacation Bible School Prayer Team – Participate in our “Love Thy Neighbor” 2024 Mission theme by joining a VBS Prayer Team.  Please see Mrs. Kristina for more information.
A Call to Prayer: Spiritual Direction at First Baptist Church

Spiritual direction is an intentional relationship that focuses on our relationship with God.  It is not counseling or therapy, but gentle, guiding support for those who want a richer experience in their personal relationship with Jesus.  God calls us to make disciples together, and even the seasoned saint needs encouragement sometimes…..

Spiritual Direction is a historic, spiritual practice that encourages:
  • A deeper prayer life.
  • Discernment in the will of God.
  • Clarification towards the call of ministry and participation in God’s story of redemption.
  • A listening ear.

“Christian spiritual direction…is help given which enables that person to pay attention to, respond to, and grow in intimacy with God.”
