A Season of Thanksliving

As we near Thanksgiving, it is common for families to give thanks for the many blessings that we have been afforded.  It is one of the national holidays that bring us together as a nation, a special time to gather around table for turkey, stuffing, and football.

The Bible admonishes us to give thanks always (Ephesians 5:20), not just once a year.  Ours is to be a life of gratitude, noting that God supports us, sustains us, and nourishes us year-round.  Each day is a gift, and each breath a precious treasure we often take for granted.

Over the next month, our theme at First Baptist will be one of Thanksliving.  It is a reminder that we are to live out of a spirit of gratitude, give generously because God is generous to us, and offer our lives as living sacrifices in the service of our King, Jesus.

Join us over the next month for these, and other, great lessons…
  • Nov. 6- All Saints Day, a worship experience to give thanks for all those who have gone before us, and commissioning for our ministries now.
  • Nov. 13- Luke 17:11-21, On the importance of Gratitude.
  • Nov. 20- Luke 18:9-14, Christ the King Sunday: On how (NOT) to give thanks.
  • Nov. 27- First Sunday of Advent, Hanging of the Green.

As you reflect on giving thanks, how does your life echo the gratitude that you have for life, hope, love, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the world today?
